One Down

It was a far better week this week. However, as is usual when you are living with a hailstorm of grief, the best of times can be the worst of times (sorry Dickens).  Hippie Child’s team won their soccer grand final. It was thrilling and joyous. Yet now the happiest of times comes tinged with a little sadness as somebody is missing from the celebrations.

One Up

Thank goodness this week comes with many choices for the one up. There was the kindness of my friends, the coffee dates that recharge and support better than any counselling, thank you guys. There was also some special moments with Hippie Child. As the youngest was away at camp we got some one-on-one time. It cost me a fortune in buying her favourite meals – SOFT SHELL CRAB FOR GOD’S SAKE – but it allowed us to talk about her Dad and school and the future. Being a teenager is a rough ride at the best of time, without the added complication of losing your hero. One of my friends does a weekly date with a daughter taking her out for afternoon tea, she swears it is really important in keeping the lines of communication open, I think I might need to implement something similar.

I hope your week had more ups than downs. Feel free to share your best or worst in the comments.

I know this wasn’t a focus, but yay for the soccer team finals! It’s the soccer player in me. Also, loving Hippie Child’s taste. Sounds like a pretty decent week. Also – afternoon tea must be way cheaper over there than it is over here, because I couldn’t imagine shelling out that kind of money every week. Although, I guess if I just got the tea and a scone instead of the tea, the scones, the sandwiches, the desserts, and the glass of champagne it would probably be cheaper…
