Thursday is a day mainly spent at home. It turns out to be a poor day for photographs, all are taken on my iphone (does anyone else think the 6s doesn’t take very good quality shots? – I guess it’s probably just my lack of skill). Princess Child, the photographer, doesn’t take any shots today so you are left with my dodgy work!
It seems the “children” aren’t too big to crash into my bed in the morning to try to encourage me to get up. At least it’s not happening at 5.30am anymore like it used to when they were little. I suppose at 9.30am I probably should have been up! Hey, it’s holidays, and we all know I’ve never been a morning person!
I do a load of the never-ending washing. Others can make their washing look pretty, artsy even, however you are on a blog called Shambolic Living, so my laundry looks dull and unattractive, I really have developed a bit of a prison-green colour scheme with my clothes, maybe should invest in some colours?
The art student tries to do some more of her work. She has to wear GLOVES to deal with the paper she is using. Turns out her elbows leave smudges on the paper! We head to the art shop in town to try to get new paper but they don’t stock it. So instead I spend a ridiculous amount of money getting her Year 12 body of work for art framed. I really shouldn’t leave the house.
While Hippie Child heads to the orthodontist we grab some afternoon tea. There may only be one more appointment before the unveiling of the straightened teeth which is very exciting. Although, it will mean one less reason to come home from uni. Those appointments meant I got to see her at at least every six to eight weeks!
On the way home there’s a quick whirl around the supermarket, Princess Child is making pizza for tea and we’ve invited Nana and Dorothy over for dinner. It is so nice to be in the super market in the afternoon rather than doing the shopping at 6.30pm at night on my way home from work. I sometimes look at the faces of my fellow tired shoppers at that time and imagine we could all be in some sort of zombie movie. Blank expressions, wandering through the aisles, randomingly grabbing items, just wanting to get it over and get home after long days at work!
Before dinner there’s a game of five second rule. Five seconds is a very short amount of time to come up with three things on any given topic.
As usual Princess Child delivers with the pizzas.
Dorothy, the dessert queen arrives with homemade baked cheesecake. Yum.
Then it’s time to drive Princess Child to the movies, she’s meeting friends for the 8.40pm showing of Table 19. I do less driving around with this child because I am at work during the after-school running around. I wouldn’t have thought I would miss it, but it is an opportunity for conversation. I’m not sure what it is about sitting side-by-side in a car with a teenager that encourages discussion but it tends to be a time when random chats can fill you in on what is going on in their lives.
Hope your Thursday was sensational!

Where do the days go? The week has flashed by and I am way behind with my reading!
I have never heard of the game “five second rule” – lucky for me, I am sure I would be no good at it! It takes me a while to come up with one idea, never mind 3! But it could be a lot of fun trying lol!

I remember once hearing that the car was the right time to have “the talk” with your kids (I think I remember hearing this from when I was about 12) because there’s no escape and you actually have to talk about things. Or at least listen. I realize this is probably not what you’re talking about at all, but that’s absolutely what it reminded me of.
