Best Coffee and Restaurants in Port Macquarie

April 10, 2017 By Janine 6 Comments

Old friends are arriving this week and were wondering where to get good food and coffee in Port. So here’s a list of my favourites … if anyone wishes to add good spots I’ve missed feel free to chime in in the comments.

Coffee

The Milkbar – Town Beach 2/38 William St, Port Macquarie

Has a all day breakfast menu … with a few burgers thrown in at lunch time. Always busy. Good coffee.

Coffee cup and raisin toast.

Coffee at the Milkbar.

Meg ‘n Me – Shop 12/6-14 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie

Only been here once, I don’t get to this part of town very often, many locals regard it has the best coffee in town. Not a cafe, but an espresso bar, with a boutique attached where you browse the fashion.

Buzz Cafe –  Shop 9, Peachtree Walk, 72 Horton St, Port Macquarie

Hidden away in an arcade but I really love the coffee here.

Ruins Cafe –  1 Major Innes Road, Port Macquarie

My local and a frequent stopping point for me on my way to work. Way outta town, but they are opening up in the CBD.

Lunch

Rivermark Cafe – 261 Hastings River Drive,Port Macquarie

Probably my favourite place for lunch. A little way out of town on the river. Menu includes a mixture of wraps and light meals along with more expensive gourmet options. Hippie Child loves the soft shell crab and  I go the pear, feta, prosciutto, cashews & croutons salad or the warm harissa chicken, rocket, semi dried tomatoes, kipflers & guacamole salad.

Food and View At Rivermark

The Beach House – Royal Hotel 2 Horton Street Port Macquarie

Can be a bit hit and miss, but the best views in town. I love it for a long lunch when I’m not working or drinks after work, watching the sunset and leading into a meal when you decide you need something to soak up the wine.

The Beach House overlooks the Hastings River.

Sushiko –  21 Short St, Port Macquarie

Had a change of menu last year, but I hear it’s now returned to the delicious Japanese food that made it a really popular spot in Town. I love the Terakyi Chicken at this one.

 Dinner

Fusion 7 – 6/124 Horton Street,Port Macquarie

Probably need to book for this one. Tend to go here for special occasions, superb food. Although expensive.

Bill’s Fishhouse – Clarence Street, Port Macquarie

This one opened up last year. I’ve been there for lunch and it was very nice would definitely go back.

Chocolate dessert.

Dessert at Bill’s Fishhouse.

Grape and Petal – 72 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie

I walked past here the other day and it seemed closed for renovations. I hope it will be making a comeback. Has the best sharing platters in town.

Love Meg and Me for quick casual coffee. Salty Crew Kiosk and Sea Acres both have beautiful surroundings. The Hastings cafe at the Westport club does really nice coffee, cakes and lunches. Pipeworks is a nice spot for dinner, great pizzas. Aren’t we spoiled?!!

Seafood and a view of the sea. How wonderful! Living on the ‘inland’ side of the snowy mountains makes it a long haul to the beach in any direction 🙁
Enjoy your coffee and eating out!

We really enjoyed Bill’s Fishhouse particularly the dessert, still dreaming about the dessert and we’re keen to try Fusion next visit.
Yes, you’re spoilt for choice and we loved spending a week in Port especially visiting you guys and chatting and laughing like old friends should.
