Dear Princess Child
Yesterday you turned sixteen!! Old enough to get your learner’s permit to drive!
The years are melting away and before I know it you will be following your sister out into the big world.
I just wanted to pen a little note to you to say how awesome you are.
Losing your Dad broke your heart into a million pieces. Since you were very young family has been everything to you and to have your family ripped apart was your worst nightmare.
It turned out though that in the very profound words of Christopher Robin,
You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
Throughout the challenges of the past couple of years you proved your strength and courage over and over. You supported your sister through the HSC and did your very best to get both her and I organised.
You grew up fast and took responsibility for yourself.
Your caustic one-liners frequently had us laughing even in the darkest of times.
I’m so lucky to be your mother. Thank you for being you. Have a wonderful year.
Love you.
Mum.

What an adorable letter to your daughter! It would have been a lot of fun to receive something like this from my mother for my sweet sixteen. She sounds like a wonderful girl, and you did a great job raising her to be what she is today.
