Taking Stock – January 2016

At the start of a New Year I thought it was probably timely to do a Taking Stock post – the idea blatantly nicked from the lovely Pip at Meet Me At Mikes.

I’m on holidays (22 December until 18 January) so I have had a deliciously long break to do all the things you don’t get time to do when you are working. Of course the downside is that as a casual I don’t paid during this time either … the choices of life time or money.

Making : A bullet journal – yet another attempt to get myself organised. More about it in another post.
Cooking : Chicken in white wine sauce for dinner.
Drinking : Verve Clicquot for Xmas and
Reading: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (anyone read it?).
Wanting: A lotto win.
Looking: At luscious homes in the magazines.
Playing: Solitaire on the computer.
Deciding: What I want to do to make a living.
Wishing: I suspect this will be a permanent wish – that Simon was here tormenting his daughters with pathetic Dad jokes.
Enjoying: Spending time with my daughters.
Waiting: To hear if my application for the permanent role I have casually filling for the last year has been successful.
Liking: Coffee with the regulars those wonderful women who have supported me through the last two years.
Wondering: What the future holds, particularly for the daughter about to leave home.
Loving: Friends visiting.
Pondering: The tragedy of life as I watch the news.
Considering: What to do about my almost dead i-phone 4. Would I be happy with a cheap phone?
Buying: Cockroach bombs – god I hate those bloody ugly insects.
Watching: Sherlock – Season 3 –  not sure I get the infatuation with Benedict Cumberbatch??
Hoping: I can combine blogging with full-time work.
Marvelling: At the fact I managed to get my tax done – late but done!
Cringing: Every time we hear another news report about whatever Donald Trump has said/done today.
Needing: To lose weight. No really it’s getting ridiculous now. Well over 10 kilos put on now since Simon died and I was overweight before he went.
Questioning: The value of change – the good and the bad.
Smelling: The strawberry and banana cake the youngest is baking.
Wearing: The usual uniform of jeans and t-shirt.
Following:  Just started reading Pinky Poinker.
Noticing: Kate and William sent Prince George to a Montessori school – suspect it could lead to surge in popularity for the Montessori system – see I was way ahead of the game!
Knowing: We are always going to be OK no matter what life throws at us.
Thinking: About ways to make money without a job.
Admiring: The youngest daughter’s photography – check out her image from a past trip to Bondi above.
Sorting: This goddamn house – why oh why am I such a hoarder???
Getting: Cranky trying to use daughter’s Mac – why do people love these things so much??
Bookmarking: This article about podcasting and thinking about the sort of podcasts I would like to make.
Coveting: This Lauren Dress
Disliking: The constant wind and rain we’ve been getting.
Opening: A lot of bills eek.
Giggling: At the start of The Family Law a new SBS series which is previewing on Facebook this weekend (up until midnight tomorrow). Only got to see the starting few minutes before all my electrical devices died but what I saw seemed good.
Feeling: A complicated mess of conflicting emotions – happy/sad/happy/sad/excited/worried.
Snacking: I ate an apple the other day – not sure what came over me going all healthy like that.
Helping: The eldest get ready for uni – there is so much to DO.
Hearing: A variety of podcasts including Happier with Gretchen Rubin
