Over at iVillage Alana is considering what she’d put on her ultimate playlist.

Now I haven’t managed to be organised/technical enough to sort out how to get myself a shuffling playlist – it’s been on my to do list for some time now. The kids have banned me from adding my songs to their playlists so in this age of plentiful music generating devices I still rely on the old-fashioned radio in the car where I can sing along loudly and proudly and nobody gets to complain about my tone-deaf warbling.

Anyhow, Alana’s got me thinking what would I have to have on my ultimate playlist – here’s what I’ve come up with.

Living on a Prayer – Bon Jovi

Paradise by the Dashboard Light – Meatloaf

I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (with flowers in my hair) – Sandi Thom

All Summer Long – Kid Rock

Fernando – Abba

Mamamia – Abba

Hallelujah – Cohen or Buckley

Imagine – John Lennon

Throw Your Arms Around Me – Hunters and Collectors

Into My Arms – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Blow Up The Pokies – The Whitlams

Don’t Dream It’s Over – Crowded House

Butterfly Kisses -Bob Carlisle

One Crowded Hour – Augie March

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) – Green Day

Beds Are Burning – Midnight Oil

Candle in the Wind – Elton John

Piano Man – Billy Joel

Hey Jude – The Beatles

I’m A Believer – The Monkees

Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen

Tenterfield Saddler – Peter Allen

Hotel California – The Eagles

Hurts So Good – John Cougar

R.O.C.K in the USA – John Cougar Mellencamp

Born in the USA – Bruce Springsteen

Streets of Philadelphia – Bruce Springsteen

It’s Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It) – The Rolling Stones

Jumping Jack Flash – The Rolling Stones

Centrefold – J Geils Band

Jessie’s Girl – Rick Springfield

Another One Bites the Dust – Queen

Flashdance – What a Feeling – Irene Cara

Eye of the Tiger – Survivor

Roar – Katy Perry

Summer of 69 – Bryan Adams

Bette Davis Eyes – Kim Carnes

Physical – Olivia Newton John

We gotta get out of this place – The Angels

Khe Sahn – Cold Chisel

Georgy Girl – The Seekers

Horror Movie – Skyhooks

Black Betty – Spiderbait

Reckless – Australian Crawl

Eagle Rock – Daddy Cool

Yesterdays Hero – John Paul Young

From Little Things Big Things Grow – Paul Kelly

Howzat – Sherbet

I Was Only 19 – Redgum

Six Ribbons – John English

Great Southern Land – Icehouse

Down Under – Men at Work

So What – Pink

Dear Mr President – Pink

Affirmation – Savage Garden

1979 – Good Charlotte

Cats in the Cradle – Harry Chapin

Like A Drum – Guy Sebastian

Some Nights – Fun

All right I have to stop now … I think this little exercise has shown us all I’m a depressive nerd stuck in a 70/80’s time warp and with a love of a good anthem.

What’s your top five songs for your playlist?

I would guess that my five top played songs are all by Pentatonix, Carrie Manolakos, the Smash soundtrack and Ariana Grande. That’s just right now though. Of all time, goodness gracious that would take a long time to figure out 🙂

IWould have to have a serious think on this,, but some Clapton, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, and few others,, it is quite a varied choice. …. 😉
