I’m not exactly rocking this stay-at-home gig. The children were late to school this morning because, as the Princess Child berated, “everyone thinks because we are getting driven to school you can all move slower – you CAN’T”. I feel for the child, she was clearly born into the wrong household, as she sits fully dressed, bag packed, notes signed waiting for her sister and I to finish flaffing about.
I’ve gone all Nigella and prepared five nights of gourmet dinners from Real Living Magazine. Friday night was tough, spent all day slow cooking the Moroccan Lamb only to realise that the 6.00pm soccer game in Kempsey meant nobody had time to eat it. I threatened the family with extermination if they dared to fill up on hot dogs or pies before they got home to enjoy my masterpiece at 8.30pm. They held a Masterchef vote to determine which of the dishes was a favourite – the children declared the Chicken, Cabbage, Apple soup the winner. In the meantime the kitchen is a disaster area – if I cook can’t somebody else bloody well clean up!!!!
Anyway, I soldier on.
I’m declaring today “have a good laugh day”. Just because there is a lot of shitty things happening in the world in general and to people I know in particular so I think we all need to have a good giggle.
