It’s been raining all weekend again. The beaches are full of debris. There’s been some more minor flooding. At least one business I know of isn’t reopening in the short-term – one flood too many for them a couple of weeks ago – left them with no stock and a lot of damage.
So to everyone living and running businesses in the flooding zones – hang in there – these downpours have to end soon.
To escape the dreary weather we went to the movies. I went from one extreme to the other. Saturday I saw Zero Dark Thirty and yesterday Safe Haven. So from torture and terrorism to a chick-flick all in one rain sodden weekend.
Zero Dark Thirty was a fascinating look at the search for Bin Laden. It certainly highlighted the pressure of the time. I couldn’t watch some of the early scenes but it is a movie which gets you thinking about process vs results. How far are you willing to go as an individual and a country to “do your job” and protect your citizens.? Given this is very recent history it was a reminder of just how September 11 impacted on us all.
In contrast Safe Haven was much easier territory. The central love story was sweet. The threat suitably menacing. A couple of twists. Delightful children. The adult actors suitably appealing, Josh Duhamel, is my new favourite.
So that is how my weekend panned out? How’s yours going?
