Weekly Photo Challenge – Purple

July 29, 2012 By Janine 13 Comments

This week’s challenge is to take a shot of my favourite colour – purple. Unfortunately we have very few photos containing purple. My brother has absolutely no photos of anything purple, so we have had to resort to a photo of mine. Unlike my self-taught brother I have taken two short courses in photography. One as part of my Journalism Diploma, back in the days when photography required a darkroom and developing liquids in order to be able to see what you had snapped and another at TAFE a six-week evening course designed to get you proficient at using your Digital-SLR. It is a sad fact that after both of these course I still suck at taking photographs. This one was taken as part of the TAFE course and the instructor pounced on it as a “very nice” photo desperately trying to give some hope after a run of blurry, out of focus, out-of-proportion images that I had been producing.

I think your photo is lovely, and did have a chuckle at your story about photography! Luckily photos are now a lot cheaper to take and the dud ones can just be deleted!
I think the header on your blog page is absolutely beautiful.

At least you didn’t get a shot of the camera strap hanging down over the photo…
It is a nice photo–purple is my favorite color, too.

This is a great photo – maybe you should re-evaluate your opinion of your skills!

i like it, janine! good for you for taking a class, and one day, when you slow down, you’ll enjoy photography and remember all you learned in class. right now you are too busy driving to soccer and working. still, this is lovely!
