Hello new week. What are your plans for the week ahead? Are you watching the Olympics?
This weekend we celebrated Princess Child getting Player of the Match for her soccer game. Yayy.
I managed to see a fair bit of the opening ceremony of the Olympics, for once the Aussie uniforms weren’t completely atrocious, seriously who chose green and gold as national colours? Some may have thought we looked a little like we were off to the lawn bowls, but hey, conservative was better than some of previous attempts at making those colours look interesting. The Poms had a touch of the Sgt Pepper about their uniforms and I’m still pondering why the US were in berets but regardless of how they looked they were there, at an OLYMPIC GAMES!
Loved the Queen’s cameo at the Opening Ceremony, laughed at Mr Bean’s segment, but not sure of its relevance. Thought it was a very British ceremony and probably missed a lot of the references because…well I’m not British. Did wonder if perhaps it didn’t pay enough homage to the sporting aspects of the games, the whole you are the best in the world, now is your moment kind of stuff. The cauldron was brilliant, with every country participating represented in it. Iimagine the nerves of the whole world watching the little show you have put together.
What was your favourite part of the Opening?
Dragged the girls out of bed this morning to watch Port Macquarie boy, James Magnusson compete in the 4 x 100 relay. Unfortunately, we came fourth and James is looking gutted. They were expected to bring that one home. However, time to rally and compose yourself there’s still more races to go!
Hope you have a great week wherever you are in the world!

I find it funny that I was pointing out to the boys a seagull doing a dive bomb just like this one, yesterday at the beach. And my post today was about how my youngest son DIDN’T get player of the match in soccer on Saturday. That’s where the similarities in this post end though, because I must admit, the only Olympics I ever got into was when it was on our doorstep in Sydney 2000. How very un-Australian of me!
