Soup is a good idea. See how much you are learning by visiting my blog – now you know what a lamington is – you would like it – it’s just sponge cake covered in chocolate and coconut.

(which I can’t actually figrue out if I would like or not….)

I’m impressed at your solid attempt to keep the food costs down. I know that my mom has started making a large pot of soup on the weekend and then has it for a few meals throughout the week, maybe that’s a thought? That can’t be too expensive (right?) – and you just have to put it in a crock pot 🙂

Bugger the kids, this book is totally what a busy mum needs when Mr Shambles isn’t on the roster to cook. Simple stuff, simply simple.

I highly recommend shopping no more than twice a month. As you said, you can buy ingredients you can use both weeks. We eat lots of beans, and making bread from scratch is very inexpensive.
